June 1, Surprise Az

.Hi friends and family, We are presently camping at White Tank Mt. park. We are up here in the mountains and the campground host and the Klines are the only campers here. I would say it is secluded, wouldn't you? I guess this is their off season. It is 104 degrees. Needless to say, we are using A.C. This area is well known for their petroglyphs. Ancient Arizonans pecked hundreds of figures and symbols on the rock faces of this valley. Most of these are 1,000 yrs. old or older. These symbols recorded events and marked locations. They were a magical way to control nature so rain would fall or mountain sheep would let themselves be caught. Wouldn't it be nice if we could control our weather this way? If we could, it would be 75 right now. We drove into Surprise Az. and what a surprise! It is a beautiful, upscale sprawling town of wonderful architecture and landscaping. It is such a contrast to Texas and New Mexico even though they have their own personalities and beauty. We thoroughly enjoyed our drive through town and we thought we would splurge so we stopped at McDonalds and had iced coffee. Wow! We took a few pictures of the Saguarno cactus but since you have already seen them we will send new pictures tomorrow. Just want you all to know that we love you very much!
