June 10, Zion National Park

We left this morning for Zion Nat’l Park. Before entering we are inundated with spectacular sights of beautiful sandstone mountains and beautiful canyons. We saw glowing cliffs, water with melodic sounds and birds and flowers everywhere. It is spectacular. There is so much history but I will only go into it a little. Water is what caused everything to happen, Water flows and solid rock melts into cliffs and towers. Landscape changes as canyons deepen to create highlands and lowland deserts. Zion, a Hebrew word for refuge came about because people sought a sanctuary from the desert’s high reaches. We hiked a nice trail, and stopped at some interesting places for pictures. Unlike the Grand Canyon, where you are looking down most of the time, you are looking up at Zion. You feel like you are more a part of the park. A shuttle takes you to all the points of interest. That is nice because you don’t have to worry about finding a parking place. Tomorrow we are going to Bryce Canyon. Love you all
