June 6, Grand Canyon

Our spot at the canyon is called Desert View and in my estimation, it is the most beautiful view of the canyon. We walked over in the morning and took pictures. It was fabulous! I could go on and on about it but you have already heard enough. At the viewing spot we walked up in a wonderful watch tower. You will see pictures eventually when we get a signal. Later we went over to Kim and Jeremy’s and they took us into Flagstaff to shop and we drove into Wapatki Nat’l Monument and Sunset Crater. Have you ever seen black mountains? They were that way because debris exploded from the ground and rained down. The lava flowed and cinders erupted. It erupted only 800 years ago so it is still a young, still active area. We visited the ruins there and couldn’t believe that this small area housed 100 people. It is neat to imagine how they lived in those days.
On the way home, we stopped at a Navaho Trading Post and ate a Navaho taco that was so big, I took it home and ate 3 meals from it. We had a wonderful day. Love you all
