June 11, Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park, Utah

Hi folks, We left early this morning and drove to Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park. We took a chance and stopped at the Bryce campground and found a spot. Not the most level, but O.K. Imagine a beautiful sculpted sand castle and magnify that a thousand times. That is Bryce. It is named for one of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters featuring colorful formations called "hoodoos." Erosion has shaped colorful Claron limestones, sandstones and mudstones into thousands of spires, fins, pinnacles and mazes. It is the most changing park in the world because the stone is so soft. Everytime it rains or snows it changes the landscape. We loved it! Every vista was more beautiful than the last one. "Hoodoo" came about because of an ancient legend that believed the coyotes turned people into stone. So the shapes are really people turned into stone. How about that? So we saw thousands of people in the canyon.
This is our 5th week today and so far it has been spectacular. We are not able to send pictures right now because of our slow connection, but when we get to a Wi-fi site, we will send them. We love you all
